The Sooners Beat Texas 8-4 to Send Series to Game 3

Oklahoma Stays Alive in WCWS Championship

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners defeated the No. 2 Texas Longhorns 8-4 in Game 2 of the 2024 Women's College World Series championship series on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.

The Sooners, who lost Game 1 of the series on Monday night, evened the series at 1-1 with the win. Game 3 of the series will be played on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.

Oklahoma took an early lead in the game, scoring two runs in the first inning on a home run by Jocelyn Alo. The Sooners added to their lead in the third inning, scoring three more runs on a double by Grace Lyons.

Texas cut into the lead in the fourth inning, scoring two runs on a home run by Janae Jefferson. However, Oklahoma answered back in the fifth inning, scoring two more runs on a single by Tiare Jennings.

The Longhorns scored two more runs in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Sooners' lead. Oklahoma held on for the 8-4 win and sent the series to a decisive Game 3.

Hope Trautwein earned the win for Oklahoma, allowing four runs on seven hits in seven innings of work. She struck out nine batters and walked two.

Texas starter Hailey Dolcini took the loss, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. She struck out four batters and walked three.

The Sooners are now one win away from claiming their second consecutive national championship. The Longhorns, meanwhile, will need to win Game 3 to force a fourth and deciding game.
