76ers Avoid Elimination With 108-105 Overtime Win

Tyrese Maxey's late heroics force Game 6 against the New York Knicks

PHILADELPHIA - Tyrese Maxey scored the Philadelphia 76ers' final seven points, including a three-pointer to tie the game with 13 seconds left in regulation, as the 76ers rallied to beat the New York Knicks 108-105 in overtime Tuesday night.

With the win, the 76ers avoid elimination and cut the Knicks' lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals to 3-2. Game 6 is set for Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Maxey, who finished with 28 points, hit a jumper with 3:07 left in overtime to give the 76ers a 106-105 lead. After the Knicks tied the game on a free throw by RJ Barrett, Maxey drove to the basket and was fouled by Obi Toppin. Maxey hit both free throws to give the 76ers a 108-106 lead with 1:39 remaining.

The Knicks had a chance to tie the game again, but Barrett's three-pointer bounced off the rim with 10 seconds left. The 76ers secured the rebound and ran out the clock to secure the victory.
